Class 2 Spring Term 2020
Hi Class 2. I have really enjoyed this first term of being your teacher and learning alongside you. Here is a summary of what we have and will be learning this term.
In Spring 1, we will be learning about how to save the planet!
We will be learning about climate change and what we can do to look after our world. We will be looking specifically at the letter that Pope Francis wrote about caring for our common home - Laudato Si’.
We will be recapping place value to begin with, and then move on to 2D and 3D shapes. We will then consolidate our learning of addition and subtraction, followed by learning about multiplication and division.
We will be continuing with our daily Read, Write, Inc lessons. For those who have come off the Read, Write, Inc lessons, we will be taking part in the Accelerated Reader scheme, reading books and taking quizzes on those books.
We are going to be comparing stories by the same author, looking at books by Michael Foreman. We will also have a weekly spelling test on a Friday.
We have looked at Epiphany and the journey’s that Mary and Joseph, and the Wise Men took to Bethlehem. We are now looking at the theme of Revelation, and the stories that show us how special Jesus is, and the miracles that he performed.
We have been looking at significant individuals who have made a difference in how we view the natural world, such as Charles Darwin, David Attenborough and Greta Thumberg. We will learn about the contributions they have made in their own times, and what they can tell us today.
We will be exploring uses of everyday materials, grouping them and looking at their properties. We will then by learning about recycling responsibly, linking this to our topic.
We will be looking at art using recyclable materials. We’re going to think about what message these pieces of art are trying to convey, and then we are going to make our own.
We are going to be learning the skills required to take part in invasion games.
Thanks for being such a great class so far...let's keep it going!
