End of term
12th February 2013
It is a busy final week before we break up on Thursday afternoon. Friday is a non-pupil day so the school will be closed. We start again for the new term on Monday 25th February.
We look forward to seeing many of you over the next few evenings and discussing your child’s progress.
On Wednesday, we will be joining with the Cathedral parish for Ash Wednesday Mass at 10.00 a.m. You are very welcome to join us as we celebrate the start of Lent – alongside Holy Cross School.
Mr Parry is recovering well from his foot operation. However, he is not yet well enough to return to teaching Year 2. We think after Easter is a more realistic timescale. Mrs Glover has been fantastic in working fulltime since January and she is delighted with the progress the children have been making. This has been a huge time commitment from her – one that she cannot sustain now. Thanks to being part of a federation, we have been able to ‘persuade’ Mrs Driscoll from Holy Cross to come and work in Year 2 for two days a week (Monday and Tuesday) until Easter. Mrs Driscoll is an outstanding teacher and she is very much looking forward to working here alongside Mrs Glover.
I am delighted to inform you that we are about to re-introduce the Parent Support Adviser role. However, the model of how we run this will be quite different as we have appointed two PSAs to the Federation who will work together across both schools. Rachel Confue has already been working at Holy Cross for several years now in this role and Tracy Cook has been appointed to give 16 hours to the post – predominantly here but across both schools with Rachel. We think the model will be highly supportive to parents.
A Parent Questionnaire will be given out over parents’ Evening. We appreciate the effort you give to filling this in so that we have an understanding of your opinions. From this, we look to where we can improve further. We are so pleased that Ofsted are leaving us alone for a while but that means we want to keep evaluating ourselves. You play a very important part in that process.
