Chair of Governors - responsible for RE and the Catholic Life of the school.

By being a governor, I hope to add a sense of cooperation between the parish and the cathedral school. I am currently the episcopal vicar for schools within the diocese. I have a working knowledge of Plymouth CAST.
 Melissa Castledine
Parent Governor and responsible for Maths.

Lyn McLoughlin

Foundation Governor

I am currently employed as the Pastoral Assistant and safeguarding Rep for Plymouth Cathedral having previously spent the last 20 years in education as a teacher – 10 of these in Catholic Education) - this follows a successful career in mortgages and banking prior to starting a family.

I hope to bring this experience to my role as a Foundation Governor at the Cathedral School and as a link with the Cathedral.

Staff Governor

Roisin Wright

Headteacher

To be headteacher of our School of Joy is an honour. I began this role in September 2023 after teaching for 27 years in Luton, Bedfordshire. Our school is a second family for our pupils and staff-  a role we are proud of and feel responsible for. Our school governors work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure we offer the best possible education to our pupils through a catholic lens. We are always looking for people who are able to volunteer to become governors to help us move the school forward. If you feel you have the skill set and the time to commit, please do let us know.

Lesley Peacock

Vice Chair of Governors - Foundation Governor

I am proud to be one of the foundation governors and have
just taken the position of vice chair. I also have
responsibility for safeguarding.
I am a part time registered nurse and a mum of 3. I have
enjoyed the experience as a parent of being a part of my own
children’s primary school journey.
I have been privileged to be a part of the children’s liturgy at
the Cathedral for the last 20 years and feel passionately that
all children deserve an education that allows them to thrive,
realise their full potential and open up opportunities to them.
I am excited to be a part of the school family and look
forward to having the opportunity to support both the
children and staff.
Natalie Grosch
Staff governor and Foundation class teacher.

I joined Governors this year as the staff governor. I am the Foundation teacher at Cathedral and have been for 2 years now. Before this, I was the year 1/2 teacher. I have always worked with children, having previously been a Children's Worker and a teaching assistant.
I am proud to be a teacher at this school - we are a very close knit family! I feel that being part of Governors allows me to speak up for my colleagues and gain a better perspective on things within the school and our wider community.

Theresa Cookson

Foundation Governor

I am a married mother of two, born and brought up in the Cathedral Parish. My family has a long association with the Cathedral school, my dad and his siblings went to the school, as did I, and my uncle was caretaker for over 30 years. It is wonderful to be able to return to the school as the SEND governor and support Mr Dyson and his team.

I worked for the NHS prior to having a family and for the last 14 years have worked in the Learning Support dept at Notre Dame where my main focus has been literacy and speech and language support. I believe that all children deserve the best quality of education so that they can thrive and achieve their best.
 Sophie Wilson Town

Parent Governor

I joined the Governors last year as a staff governor and am now a parent governor. I am the Year 6 teacher at our sister school, St Joseph’s. I am also a mum to two boys - one who is 5 years old and in Foundation at St Joseph’s and the other is 2 years old. They are both cheeky monkeys! This allows me to see things from different perspectives. I appreciate and see the benefit of our two schools working closely together. I lead maths across both schools and try to make sure I am at CSOSM every Tuesday afternoon. It has been lovely getting to know some of the children and talking to them about their maths learning!

Tracy Cook

Foundation Governor

I have been a part of the Cathedral and Cathedral family for many years. I attended the Cathedral school, as did my Mother and grandmother.
It is now with great pleasure that I work at the cathedral School as a PSA (Parent support advisor) and have done so for the past 8 years.
Until recently I also worked at Holy Cross primary school.
I am very happily married with 4 children, one attending Notre dame.
I am very proud to be able to support some of our families here at The cathedral School, and take great pleasure in helping and supporting them.
I have been a governor at The Cathedral School for nearly 2 years, and am proud to be part of such a wonderfully caring team.
