What a BRILLIANT term we've had!
Since we started the Mini Vinnies at the beginning of November, we've:
  • held weekly meetings to discuss how we can help others in our community
  • elected a President, Secretary and Treasurer, who have taken on the running of the group
  • held a tidy-up lunch time, where we worked together to improve our school environment
  • hosted a fantastic cake sale, raising over £42 for the St. Vincent de Paul Society
  • accepted a further donation of £20 towards the St. Vincent de Paul Society from a member of the public who was greatly impressed by our carol singing in Victoria Park
  • formally recognised the membership of the group at a mass celebrated by Monsignor Nannery, during which members recited the Mini Vinnies pledge
  • visited the Plymouth Food Bank to make a donation of food for families in need this Christmas
We are looking forward to 2017 and already have so many ideas for how we can continue the work of Frederic Osanam in our lives.
On Tuesday 8th November we launched our new 'Mini Vinnies' group, which will build on the excellent work of the St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) Society - helping those in need.
At an assembly led by Mike Royles of the SVP, we remembered the story of the Good Samaritan -  demonstrating the importance of seeing who needs help, thinking about what can be done and ultimately doing something about it.
Children will have the opportunity to join the group which will meet every Thursday lunchtime in Class 5 to pray, reflect and plan actions and activities to help those in need.
