Class 2

Class 2 - Home Learning for School Closure

Hi children! Hi parents!

Welcome to the Class 2 Home Learning for School Closures page! This page will be updated every week day with work for you to do whilst we make our way through these strange times!

Before you go any further, lets start off by saying that I hope you are all coping as well as you can given the situation, and that you all had a lovely Easter. I am missing you all! Remember, we are still Class 2 and you are still my class. Carry on living the way you would in the classroom, showing everyone why Class 2 is THE best class in the city...no, the world!!! So be nice to your families, make life as easy for them as you can as mums and dads will be finding this time confusing too!

On to your work!

The most important thing is to just keep reading!! Read your books from school, share any books you have at home and use the online MyOn library. I will be sending your usernames and logins individually. You can also watch bedtime stories on Cbeebies iplayer and youtube. I would like you to keep a record of the books you share and tell me whether you enjoyed them or not, and why.

You will have access to Numbots and TT Rockstars. Again, these logins will be sent to you individually. These will help you consolidate your number facts and timetables. You can also go onto Topmarks maths to access free online maths games covering all topics on the curriculum.

I would also like you to keep a diary, recording what you do while you are off school. This can be done on paper or online and can be shared with me by email, dojo or when you come back to school. We will then share all our adventures when we're back together.

Also remember to exercise...you can join Joe Wicks for a PE lesson on his youtube channel.
Or children's yoga following popular stories such as Frozen on Cosmic Kids Yoga

Finally I would like you all to pray for our school community during these challenging times. I would like you to learn the Cathedral School prayer, which can be found on the Catholic Community page.

If you need me, please email me - ngrosch@csosm.org.uk

I will do my best to get back to you that day.

Be kind. Stay safe. Be supportive.

God Bless

Miss Grosch

This week's work for Class 2 - 06/07/2020

Please click on the links to access this week's learning.

Now that the school is open again for some children, there is a slight change to how the work will appear on the website.
It will be put up as weekly, with English, Maths and afternoon activities. There will be a theme of the week and this week it is Explorers.

Phonics/Reading:
Please watch the daily sound lessons that ReadWriteInc are putting up on their youtube channel. Mrs Brooks has recorded her own speed sound lessons and posted them onto the class dojo.

The timings for these are 9:30 for Set 1 sounds, 10:00 for Set 2 sounds and 10:30 for Set 3 sounds.
If you are unsure where your child is, please contact me and I will let you know.
In addition, if there are any particular sounds your child is struggling with, could you please let me know and I will find some tailored worksheets to help them.

For my group who are off RWInc, this week I would like you to read some books on MyOn and then do the AR quiz linked to that book. I have tried to link your MyOn log in with your AR login, so please let me know if there is a problem and I will try and rectify it...technology is not my strong point! See if you can read 5 MyOn books by the end of the week!

Maths:
TT rockstars or Numbots for 10 minutes. TT Rock stars would be great this week as we're looking at multiplication.

This week I have made a work book for you. There is one page of maths challenges a day. These challenges are to consolidate and stretch your learning. This week, the focus is on division. There is a work book for both the year 1 and year 2's...have a go at whichever one you feel comfortable with!

Writing:

This week we are looking at Explorers. There is a different activity everyday for you to have a go at, with a mixture of reading comprehensions and creative writing.

Afternoon activities:

The afternoon activities are again based around our theme of Explorers and are in a booklet, with one activity per day. I hope you find them fun!

I will also be reading our story and posting it live!

All the work can be done either online and sent through to me, or on paper, and then a photo sent through. I will hopefully be sending out home learning packs to those who have asked. If this would be helpful for you, please do let me know.

Stay safe everyone, and know that we miss seeing you all everyday...the classroom is feeling very empty and quiet!

Mission Together - Day of Many colours!

This Monday is an important day. It is Mission Together's Day of Many Colours.

Today, all our learning is going to be focused on RE and thinking about other children around the world.

I have made a booklet full of the learning for today.

Also, there is a liturgy being shared live today at 9:30. It would be lovely if you could tune in! Check the school dojo for all the information.

Have a lovely Monday!
